SEASON PREVIEW The Covington Buccaneers had a solid season a year ago as they finished third in the league (TRC) with a 7-5 record and finished 8-5 overall.
The Buccs only lost one senior to graduation, Matt Dieperink, but he was an outstanding golfer who finished first team in the TRC and a replacement of him will be critical for success in 2025.
Fortunately the Buccaneers do have plenty of talent to have a huge impact on the season as senior Brodie Manson returns after earning first-team honors in the TRC last year and another senior, Jayden Wackler returns after earning honorable mention in the league. Plus, Caleb Smith, who is another senior is back and he made strides of improvement last year.
The Buccaneers have six juniors on the roster who could have a huge impact – Caiden Hollingsworth, Brairen Denson, Jackson Hollis, Phillip Swabb and Gavin Clark. Plus, sophomore Finn Rogers is in the mix to help the Buccs have a successful season.
Covington also has three freshman on the roster who are in the process of taking strides in golf execution – Colton Townsend, Boston Koffer and Isaac Hartwig.
Covington’s head coach Bill Wise and assistant coach Bill Shafer have established a solid program and hopefully the Buccaneer golfers on the roster will take this season to a higher level.
