SEASON PREVIEW:
The Covington Buccaneers enter the 2025-26 season with potential to improve in the TRC after compiling a 6-17 overall record and 0-14 league record a year ago.

The Buccaneers lost six players from a year ago due to graduation, but return three lettermen and three seniors in the lineup. The returning lettermen are Brant Angle, Landin Cassel and Parker Hoying and the three seniors who advanced to the varsity level are Ace Grear, Caleb Smith and Jayden Wackler.

Last season, as a freshman, Brant Angle earned honorable mention in the league as he was third on the team in points scored with 160 total and 7.0 points-per-game. He also accumulated a team-high 126 rebounds and 27 blocked shots along with 17 steals, which was the fourth most on the team. Angle is now a sophomore and will likely be the leading scoring for the Buccaneers this season.

Junior Landin Cassel will likely be the key player inside the paint due to his size and strength. He split time in at the varsity and reserve level a year ago and compiled 99 points and 109 rebounds in varsity games. He also recorded 16 blocked shots, which was second on the team last season.

The third returning letterman who is on the roster is junior Parker Hoying. He tallied 44 points and 30 rebounds at the varsity level last season. Hoying is in a recovery situation due to an injury suffered in August, but his mentality and work ethic will help the entire team.

The key players to replace from last season are Brogen Angle, Tanner Palsgrove and Tyler Jay, the three players who led the Buccaneers with leadership a year ago. Fortunately, the Buccaneers have several players who have the potential to help the team have success.
